Description

Five German Studies Research Grants are offered to highly qualified undergraduate and graduate students who are nominated by their department/program chair. The grant may be used for short-term research (one to 10 months, Doctoral candidates wishing to complete degree in Germany may receive up to three one-year extensions) in either North America or Germany. The program is designed to encourage resarch and promote the study of cultural, political, historical, economic, and social aspects of modern and contemporary German affairs from an inter- and multidisciplinary perspective.

Monthly stipends are approximately €1000. DAAD will pay for health insurance and provide a flat rate subsidy for travel costs. In addition, limited funds are available for a rent subsidy and family allowance.
