UCSB Interdisciplinary Humanities Center Research Fellowships

Deadline 05/15/2013

Description

The IHC Research Fellowships (formerly known as Senior Fellowships) are open to all recent UCSB Ph.D.s in the humanities and humanistic social sciences.

The IHC Research Fellows will be affiliated with the IHC and will have opportunities to participate in the Center’s classes, activities and research groups. All IHC Research Fellows will be asked to present their work at the IHC. The fellowship also provides UCSB library privileges, eligibility for campus parking, and an email account. The IHC Research Fellowship does not include a stipend; however, it does not make one ineligible for campus RAships or lectureships.

The term of the Fellowship will be one year with an automatic extension to two years upon request. Research fellows must be in residence at least two terms of the fellowship year. The IHC particularly encourages applications from scholars working in an interdisciplinary way or from those whose dissertation work opens new avenues of research within their field.

The maximum allowable request under this program is $1,500. The program will permit the following types of funding when adequately justified: reimbursement for travel costs associated with bringing collaborators and speakers to UCSB, research assistance provided by UCSB graduate students, expenses related to the costs of meeting and honoraria for guest speakers. RFG funds may not be used for co-sponsoring departmental speakers and events
