Description

Purpose: to assist, for one year, a man or woman who hopes to make a professional career of writing. The Fellowship honors the memory of George Bennett '23, who taught English at the Academy from 1929 to 1965, and aims to perpetuate his strong interest in creative writing. The Fellowship is established by a former student of George Bennett. Stipend: $13,000, plus housing and meals. Fellow shall make themselves/ talents available in an informal and unofficial way generally to students interested in writing and in English classes and to members of student literary organizations, along with carrying out their own literary projects. Qualifications: the Candidate must intend to become a professional writer and must have a manuscript in progress that he or she needs freedom to complete. No citizenship requirements specified.
