Stanford Creative Writing Center, Stegner FellowshipDeadline 12/01/2009DescriptionThe Stanford Creative Writing Program offers new writers the company of their peers and the guidance of experienced and accomplished writers in a supportive literary environment. Unique among writing programs, Stanford offers ten two-year fellowships each year, five in fiction and five in poetry, for a total of twenty Fellows. Fellows in each genre meet twice a week in workshop with faculty. We do not require a degree for admission. No school of writing is favored over any other. Chronological age is not a consideration. Fellowships include a living stipend of $26,000 (in addition to tuition and health insurance) and required workshop tuition of approximately $6,000, totaling $52,000 for the two-year period. The stipend will be awarded in equal installments at the end of each month of the academic year. Applications are welcome between September 1 and December 1.
