Students Entering Prior to Fall 2010

Department Normative Time

Prior to Fall 2010, academic departments set normative time standards for doctoral degree completion. This was in addition to campus-wide time-to-degree standards of four years from beginning graduate study at UC Santa Barbara to advance to doctoral candidacy, and seven years total to complete a doctoral degree. Doctoral students entering the University prior to Fall 2010 are still subject to the normative time and time-to-degree standards in place at the time of their admission.
