Petitioning for an Exception to a Requirement for UCSB Certificate in College and University Teaching
You may petition for an exception to a CCUT requirement based on the following:
- Completion of a similar project, course, or teaching assignment (e.g., an online college course in adult learning theory at another institution; a UCSB course that is not on the CCUT-approved list; completion of an interactive website at another university before entering UCSB; teaching at a college or university other than UCSB).
- Completion of a project, course, or teaching assignment that you believe meets the intention of a particular requirement (e.g., teaching an adult education course or conducting training workshops in a business or industrial setting in lieu of teaching a college course (requirement #4); former employment at an educational software company to meet the CCUT technology requirement #3).
All substitutions to the requirement:
- must have been completed within the past four years
- must be similar to the CCUT requirement or intention, and
- must provide a learning experience applicable to teaching at the college level
