Key Resources for New Graduate Students
A Dictionary of Graduate Terminology: As a graduate student at UCSB, or anywhere else, you will be exposed to a great deal of new terminology that might at first seem a bit overwhelming. We have put together a list of important but unfamiliar terms, some of which you may encounter in any graduate program, but all of which you will encounter at UCSB.

- California Residency: If you are a domestic student, and are not yet a California resident, please start the process of California residency as soon as you enter California to begin your stay. Find out how to do so at Office of the Registrar website.
- Campus Email (UMail): Campus Email used by the University to communicate with you. You can easily forward these emails directly to your email accouint of choice (e.g., Gmail).
- Daily Nexus: The Daily Nexus is the UCSB student newspaper.
