The Department of Statistics and Applied Probability offers an MA in Statistics (In addition to the Ph.D. in Statistics and Applied Probability - described on another page). This degree trains students in the methodology and theory of modern statistical practice by teaching data-science procedures and their applications to statistical problems. In keeping with this objective, students within the Applied Statistics and Data Science specializations are required to become skilled at statistical computing and participate actively in the consulting projects that arise in Data Lab, our Data Science Consulting Laboratory (https://datascience.ucsb.edu/consulting). This degree will prepare students for careers in government, industry, and quantitative research in other scientific disciplines.
